The plane crash in India is the first disaster with fatalities involving the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The Boeing 787-8, launched in 2011, can carry up to 248 passengers and has a range of 13,530 km. It is 57 meters long, has a wingspan of 60 meters, is 17 meters high and has a maximum take-off weight of around 227 tons. The Air India aircraft will be carrying 242 people and will crash shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, in western India. The flight is bound for London Gatwick Airport. Among the 232 passengers on the aircraft are 169 Indians, 53 Britons, 7 Portuguese, 1 Canadian and a former minister from the Gujarat region. The crash happened seconds after take-off in a residential area near the airport. Jucelino Luz has sent a letter to the airline and authorities.
