The murder of Daniela Perez and Tribute:

Jucelino Luz journalist - 08/21/2024

The murder of actress Daniella Perez, who died almost 42 years ago in Rio de Janeiro, gained repercussions again after the release of the documentary series "Brutal Pact: The Murder of Daniella Perez".

The investigations indicated that the young actress was killed with 18 stab wounds and without the right or time to defend herself. Jucelino Luz prepared a tribute and his predictions through a letter sent in 1989, which shows point by point what happened in the case. He then sent a letter to his mother Gloria Perez.

The victim's mother, writer Glória Perez, stated in an interview that in Brazil "the more violent the crimes, the more lenient our criminal laws are. We all know that crimes happen in Brazil because we have a Constitution that is not respected, a lack of reform and commitments on the part of those who represent us, and a major reform in Brazilian laws and politics – there is not even any interest on the part of those who represent us in changing the laws, renewing the Constitution (a copy of texts taken from nations that had serious problems, that is, that did not work – and only encouraged corruption and crimes even more). This is our Constitution, penal and civil code. Just as we are obliged to vote, we should also be required to include in the laws our regret for voting. In a country where salaries are given to criminals and/or their family members, where a judge who sells a sentence or makes materially wrong decisions, or favors peers, after being convicted, receives a mandatory retirement as a penalty – this encourages organized crime in Brazil and, above all, nothing will work! And our political representatives pretend not to know anything, not representing the wishes of the voters – in addition, they only bring agendas of public disinterest, harming the voters who trusted them (whether they are voters from the left, right, center, extreme right or left – everyone is harmed – increasing the crime rate and poverty in the Brazilian nation). We would like to state that we are not criticizing politicians or judges, we are simply giving our opinion on the system implemented in Brazil, which no one wants to change because it is convenient for some groups involved in corruption and in the collection and emptying of money from the public coffers at the expense of the people's misfortune. "A country where there is no income distribution, legal security, equal rights, in other words, "there shouldn't be poverty"; it turns out that the system impoverishes citizens through the false promise that people are living better, through fantasy democracy, and by lifting citizens out of poverty when, in practice, they have a different reality.

Remember the case

Daniella Perez was killed with 18 stab wounds and had no chance to defend herself, according to information from letters sent by Jucelino Luz.
Daniella Perez was 22 years old when she was killed, in 1992. At the time, she played the character Yasmin in the soap opera "De corpo e alma" and was married to actor Raul Gazolla.
Guilherme de Pádua played (now deceased) Daniella's romantic partner in the soap opera. He and his wife, Paula Thomaz, were convicted of the murder. (but are free)
The actress's body was found in a thicket in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, with blows from scissors. A letter with omens was sent about how the crime could be committed. The expert confirmed that Daniela died with 18 stab wounds, eight of which hit her heart.

Daniella, who was also a dancer, was executed with blows from scissors. She had just left the studios, where she recorded scenes for the soap opera “De Corpo e Alma”, which aired between August 1992 and March of the following year.

Guilherme de Pádua came to console Daniella's mother and husband, hours after the murder. And in these omens he gave details of the crime. The letter was sent in 1989, when she was still on TV. Headline. The letter was sent to a police station in Rio de Janeiro - years before the crime was committed. He was subsequently arrested and confessed to the crime.

Paula Thomaz and Guilherme de Pádua were arrested and tried for double-qualified homicide, that is, for a vile motive and without the victim's reaction. Paula was sentenced to 18 and a half years in prison, and Guilherme, to 19 years.

In the sentence, the judge describes the former perpetrator as a person with a "violent, perverse and cowardly personality" who placed "his ambition above all values".

Shortly after his arrest, the couple separated. Both were released from prison before serving their 7-year sentence, in 1999.

Guilherme de Pádua (now deceased), worked as a pastor at an evangelical church in Minas Gerais. Paula Thomaz, who was his wife at the time, changed her last name.

We hereby pay tribute to Daniela Perez and her entire family.
